Engraving workshop at the Museum of Typography 8/10/2017

An event for typography and engraving will take place on Sunday 8th of October 2017 at 11:30 am at the Museum of Typography, Chania, as a parallel activity of the exhibition - a tribute to the publisher, Teriad, hosted at the Municipal Art Gallery of Chania.

The program of the event includes a guided tour of the museum, a screening of the film "Aglaon - The Classical Typography" by Yannis Stefanakis and an engraving workshop on wood and linoleum by the distinguished Greek engraver Yannis Stefanakis, applied to museum equipment.

Yannis D. Stefanakis was born in Grigoria of Heraklion, Crete. He studied at the School of Fine Arts, Painting, Engraving, Hagiography as well as Art of the book and typography. In 1980, with poet Michalis Katsaros he published the poetry newspaper "Epipedo" (level). Since 1989 he has been publishing the magazine for the speech and the visuals "Neo Εpipedo” (New Level) and since 2003 the collectible magazine "Technopolis". Since 1996 she has been publishing collectible books. He has organized engraving seminars and has collaborated with publishers and literary magazines. He teaches drawing and engraving. In 2002, he talked about the collectors' books at the 1st International Conference on Typography and Visual Communication (ICTVC) at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki. In 2004, at the 2nd Conference on Typography and Visual Communication at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, he screened a film about classical typography. His works are in museums, galleries, the Ministry of Culture, as well as in important private collections in Greece and abroad.
